About DAWN 11:11

Kristen Grundy & Dave Glass reunited at the Former Houdini Museum NYC ca. 2017
DAWN 11:11 Art Studio Austin TX
DAWN 11:11 is a unique D.I.Y. punk screen printing, photography, and art studio, established by "renaissance renegades" Kristen Grundy, a photographer and filmmaker, and Dave Glass Riddick, aka. Dave Glass, an illustrator and printmaker, currently located in North Austin TX. DAWN 11:11 ( formally DAWN 11:11 Collective ) was established in 2018, while living in the Villain Arts compound in the Fishtown / Kensington section of Philadelphia PA. This was after an unforgettable cross country road trip with Dave's son in tow, while this mini crew moved Kristen back to Philadelphia after having lived in San Francisco for 10 years - due to an illegal eviction among many other crazy circumstances. This move was supposed to be a two year temporary situation in Philly, and then the Covid 19 Pandemic hit changing all plans of the couple moving together back to California. They decided to relocate to Austin TX in May 2021, and have been consistently vending live events and continue to exhibit in galleries together coast to coast.
*Side note: Kristen & Dave had previously met in the early 2000's, as south eastern transplants to Philly, and eventually even played in the same band with different line ups, months apart. The commonalities between the two are totally uncanny. There should be a book written.

In the end of August 2020, on pandemic lockdown in Philly, Kristen & Dave joined Destroy Art Inc., now Destroy All Galleries, based in Oakland/San Francisco CA. Their work is now published and showcased in person alongside some of Kristen & Dave's teenage antiheros from the punk movement, including infamous collage artist Winston Smith, and iconic photographer of the early hardcore punk scene Edward Colver.

Kristen Grundy (b.1981) is an American punk rocker, dark art creator, and fantasy / surrealism conceptual photographer whose works bravely call for us to look into where most may not want to: the essence of survival through the struggles that exists in the depths of our complex psyches, and personal stories.
Kristen's initial curiosity into art started through the imaginative poring of her father’s record covers, and then into her own collection of records. She later performed in her own bands (Dead Society, Dead Empty, Guns on the Run). At 14, she obtained a camera and started taking on street and documentary-style photos, capturing punk shows / bands and eventually learning darkroom printing, and years later composite techniques and digital photography in the Academy of Art University, CA.
Entering into the realm of digital art allowed for a much deeper storytelling through elaborate character-and-set productions, giving Kristen an auteur-level quality of individual style and personal stamp of uniqueness in each of her fantastic, visionary photos. The difficult themes that her work evokes are pulsing expressions stemming from her own long-term traumatic relationship abuse under an extreme abuser - the struggles of entrapment, fear, isolation and oppression, to the dreams and glimmer of self-awareness, resilience, and recovery.
Kristen is inspired by Tim Burton, Jerry Uelsmann, Man Ray, MC Escher, Joshua Hoffine, and Nick Blinko. She has just moved to live a quiet and productive life in Austin, Texas with her complimentary art partner Dave Glass - together they formed DAWN 11:11, providing freelance illustration, design and photography services.

Dave Glass Riddick (b.1972) is an American punk illustrator and printmaker. His visual art encompasses imagery of strong women of punk/gothic subcultures, creatures, urban decay, struggles with addiction, and the human condition, intertwined with his signature hand drawn typography. His art has been exhibited in galleries and venues, and published in books and magazines, from Philadelphia to the Netherlands.
Seething through his youth, a Ritalin prescribed, ADHD, latchkey Catholic altar boy in South Carolina, knelt at the altar of fear and lies and rang the Sanctus bells - tolling for the black sheep of broken homes. Art and music have since remained an outlet for Dave Glass.
Un-tuned to the mainstream world, Dave found an escape discovering sub-cultures in the 1980's. Igniting his journey, teenage Glass began defacing school desks, book covers, skateboards, making stencil spray paint and marker T-shirts, and painting jackets. His work was majorly influenced from skateboarding culture, and drumming for punk/hardcore bands.
After Relocating to the city of Philadelphia in 1992, GLASS’ has illustrated album covers, gig posters, and t-shirts for numerous bands, such as GBH, The New York Rel-X, and Soundgarden, as well as designed for burlesque troupes, roller derby leagues, and tattoo conventions. In addition, he has hand screen printed licensed clothing and merchandise for boundless bands and events worldwide since 2003. Select clients have included AC/DC, GG Allin, Dead Boys, Ramones, The Plasmatics, and Blondie.
Dave Glass has worked in the prepress and screen printing industry since 1993. Over the decades he has honed skills as a professional printmaker/printmaster. His roots began initially xeroxing punk fanzines and flyers, to hand screen printing rock posters and licensed band merchandise plus much much more.
Dave Glass Riddick relocated to Austin TX May 2021 with his photographer girlfriend Kristen Grundy, and Mr. Bugsy, his black cat familiar.
